I’ve always been taught that I’ve got to work hard to get what I want. My mom taught me solid core values like leadership, perseverance and strength day in and day out. She also taught me right from wrong and always hammered that academics was the key to my success in life. My step dad is who really turned me onto the game of football; his obsession with the game rubbed off on me almost instantly. We watched college football and the NFL as much as it was on. He has taught me pretty much everything I know about the game of football and really acts as a coach for me to this day. No matter what position I was at, he would teach me the fundamentals of that position, work with me daily, and give me tips to improve in game even though he has never technically my coach. Both of my parents’ teachings together have formed me into the student-athlete that I am today. Because of their support for me, I have always been able to balance sports and school well enough to excel in both.
Football has taught me a lot within my years of playing. I’ve learned to be tough not just physically but mentally as well. It has also taught me how to really be a leader, but also work with my team to be successful. While playing football, I have learned that I can push myself further than I originally believed and that I love to prove people wrong about me. I have also learned that I am very competitive and very dedicated to my team and sport in general. I believe that because of my dedication, leadership abilities, and my passion for the game I would be a good fit for a college team. I’m looking for a college that not only challenges me athletically, but also challenges me academically. Because of the core values and characteristics I possess, I am confident I will be a great fit for your program.
