Personal Statement

I started playing football in the 7th grade. The coach at that time said that he thought I had great potential for football and for other athletics as well. I didn't know much about football at the time but was eager to learn as much as I could. I joined the team and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I fell in love with the sport immediately. The competition and the challenge pushed me to be better than the last time I was on the field. Now, in high school, where the competition and stakes are higher, I find myself wanting to continue to play the game. I want to continue to push myself to the next level of the sport where few get the opportunity. I continue to evolve not only as an athlete but as a good and disciplined student as well. The structure and challenges of competing in football has made me a much better student. I believe that football fulfilled me in a way I didn't think was possible. I see the good that it has done for me as a person. I believe it has made me a type of role model to my fellow teammates and friends. The harder I push myself, the harder they push themselves as well, on and off the field.

I definitely have a dream for myself. I want to pursue a career in Pediatric Endocrinology. I want to work with children with diabetes. I want to help them navigate through this growing and difficult disability and to realize that it cannot hold them back from their dreams. I would also like to help develop a cure for this disease as well so no child will have to suffer with it. I believe that football will help me accomplish this by continuing to push me to be better than yesterday in all aspects of my life.
