Personal Statement
I am a 6'3 285 lb. senior at Viroqua High School in Viroqua, WI. This past football season I played at a heavier weight. I cut my weight to 285 for wrestling. At this weight it increased my speed and I worked on strength to capture my second Champion State Title at HWT for Wisconsin. I have started on varsity football since my second game Freshman year. I have lettered all 4 years in football and wrestling and I went out 1 year in track and lettered in shotput and disc. I'm a very versatile player in all sports. Because of my work ethic and athletic ability I have had many opportunities to play at a high level through out my athletic career. I do what it takes to be the best and a team leader and player. I am a fierce competitor with strong mental strength. I have learned to play with injuries, block out pain and mentally out play my opponents. Wrestling has taught me to dig deeper when needed to win. When you get into single, double and triple overtimes, it's all about conditioning, mental strength and the desire to win. Because of injuries my Sophomore and Junior years, I was only able to play partial football seasons. I have competed at the National level at wrestling and have earned the accolades of National Champion at 285 Folkstyle, All-American 4 times, 2 time State Champion in Wisconsin my Senior and Junior years.I placed 3rd my sophomore year. I was a State Qualifier all 4 years.101 pins and overall HS record of 177-18. My Junior year I earned Athlete Of The Year in Wrestling from the Coulee Conference, Junior Divison Outstanding Wrestler in the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Tour of America, Dells Invite MVP, Arcadia Raider Challenge MVP 2009 and 2010 and First Team All-Conference my Sophomore, Junior and Senior year. I have placed 1st in Regionals all 4 years. Sectionals I placed 1st my Senior and Sophomore year and 2nd Freshmen and Junior year. This past summer at the National Tournament in Fargo, ND I placed 7th in Greco Roman and was a member of Team Wisconsin. I am a very accomplished wrestler. My goal in college is to be a football player. I want to be challenged in football at the next level. I want to go somewhere where I can surprise people. I am a very competitive person with the drive to be the best at what I do. I feel I'm not a big profile recruit because of injuries during my sophomore and junior seasons. I have the drive, desire, athletic ability to be D1 athlete and I will do what it takes to meet my goal. I will not rule out D2 or D3. I am a athlete and I can play any position on the line. I will do whatever it takes to help the team win. My education and helping my team win is my number one goal to where ever I go. My dream is to be a D1 football player and I have the work ethic and drive to do so. I think of myself as a natural leader on and off the field. On the field I expect a winning attitude and effort from every single one of my teammates. Off the field I am committed one hundred percent to my sport and I wouldn't do anything that could hurt my team. I am very proud to say I went through high school career without touching a drop of alcohol or ever stepping foot in a party. I have a GPA of 3.2 and I have improved my grades, and understand their importance as I have matured through my high school years. I have brought my GPA up and I have straight A's this year along with a AP English course this semester. I want to study Criminal Justice and minor in psychology or sociology.
