Personal Statement
Being a starter on a team of nine seniors and winning a State Championship my sophomore season seemed like a dream come true. While I felt like I grew as a player it wasn’t until my junior season that my leadership skills were truly tested. Starting with three freshman and a sophomore was a challenge that taught me more about patience, persistence and accountability than I realized. Fortunately, my faith and family helped guide me through some difficult moments.
Having a sister who was a three time State Champion in basketball, a father who is a basketball coach a mother who is highly competitive while still being compassionate and a head coach who understands faith-based team building provided a sound baseline from which I could grow. It is this baseline combined with a powerful work ethic which leads me to believe I have the talent to not only compete at the college level but to be an impactful leader who can help a team beyond just victory on the court.
After committing to Presentation College in South Dakota I felt I was obligated to attend even after the entire coaching staff resigned. During my brief tenure there I realized 2 things very quickly: 1) How important basketball is to me, 2) I can play college basketball at the highest level. While I made good progress at Presentation it was clear South Dakota was not the place for me. I am currently looking for an opportunity to to help lead a team to achieve their highest potential while also continuing to grow as a player and a person.
