I started to play basketball when I was in elementary. In kindergarten I joined Little Dribblers for three years. Then in the second grade our local Lions Club organization held tournaments. I was always on the team that played for championship. As I got into Middle School I joined basketball all 3 years. One time the Kotzebue Husky Coach came to watch a game and asked my parents when I'd begin my freshman year. I was only in the 7th grade. I was offered a spot on the varsity team when I reached 9th grade but due to a technical rule I could not play due to my grade. I worked very hard to complete all my work but necessary rules had to be followed. It was a hard lesson learned but that did not stop me. I continued to go to every practice and remained on the junior varsity team although my heart yearned to play that first year of high school. I joined basketball during my sophomore year and got a spot on varsity. There were seven seniors on the team. I was voted player of the game by the coaches during one of our tournaments during the early season, that made me proud. Now that all the seniors have graduated, I anticipate to be a starting five this school year. I have attended numerous basketball camps throughout my life, this past summer and will continue to do so. During the off season, I still continue to play basketball. I eat, sleep and live for basketball as my mom would say.
