Personal Statement
As I continue to work my hardest, both on the court, and in the classroom, my goal is to go to college and become a student athlete. I want to use basketball as an opportunity to get my degree and set myself on a positive path for life. My education is very important to me. I aspire to one day have a job that will allow me to support my family and afford me a comfortable standard of living. As a player, I want to be a leader for my college team, both on and off the court. I know how important hard work is. My goal is always to be the first person in the gym and the last to leave. I want to encourage my teammates to be close and depend on each other.
I think what makes me different from other players is my willingness to work on the things that don't come easy to me. Sometimes, that even includes the work in the classroom. I'm hungry for knowledge and can learn something from any coach. Every time I think of the words "I can't" I replace them with "I need to work on..." I know I'll always be improving my game. The work that I do in the gym, classroom and weight room will never be half-hearted. I am excited for every new day and can't wait for the next challenge. I love basketball and will do whatever it takes to play in college.
