Personal Statement
I started playing basketball when I was in the third grade. However, I didn’t always have the same love for the game as I do now. At first, I didn’t want to play basketball because I wasn’t good and didn’t know how to play. One of my friends finally convinced me to give it a shot and said we would have fun playing together. When I first started playing all the other kids were better than me, and I wasn’t having much fun. Also, I did not get a lot of playing time. I considered quitting many times. However, I decided that I was going to work harder to get better so that I could have more fun. For the next couple of years I worked really hard and started to play a lot more. The game started to become a lot more fun. Now, I love the game of basketball and playing it is my favorite thing to do.
I have learned a lot of good lessons with my experience of playing basketball. The most important thing I have learned is that if you really want something you can find a way to get it. I have been able to apply this to many things throughout my life. I have applied this in the classroom with my grades. I have worked a lot harder in the classroom and on homework and have seen my grades start to improve. My goal is to get all A’s for the last three semesters of high school I have left and to continue my academics in college along with athletics. I hope to continue my basketball career not, just through college, but throughout my whole life. Basketball has become a big part of my life and I have a lot of love for the game. Basketball will always be apart of me no matter what.
