My name is Andrew Doyle and I'm in the 8th grade and I attend Cross County high school and I will be graduating high school in may 2026 The purpose of the personal statement is to help me obtain a job or education in a specific field. Currently I'm pursuing a job in the NBA but first I have to go to the G league or the NCAA. The G league is the NBA’s minor league preparing coaches, players, and trainers for the NBA. I’ve gained skills such as being able to use both my left and right hand in multiple things and not just basketball. I'm more flexible, I'm able to lift more and additionally I'm more flexible. Courses i would need to take would be, basketball, social media, and marketing.
Additionally, I've been involved in school and community activities such as, concession stand service pep rallies and basketball games through my participation in the activities. It taught me how to deal with money, social skills, and to perform under pressure. The work and volunteer experience includes working in goat pens and answering the phone for a reproductive lab and what I've learned from these experiences was don’t take anything for granted, live life to the fullest and hard work pays off. In my free time I like to work on my weakness in basketball because I heard a quote one time that said “ a player is only good as his biggest weakness”. Some of my strengths are math, basketball: driving to the rim , dribbling with both hands and I'm currently working on getting a more consistent jumpshot. Areas I would like to improve in is shooting the ball with confidence, and not rushing into my shot.
My friends would probably describe me as friendly and outgoing because I'm not really too reserved. I'm more of an expressive person which helps me have better social skills and makes presentations, talking to people, and asking questions a lot easier. One influential person in my life was Ja Morant because coming outta high school he had very little to no college stars or offers but he ended up going to Marquette and there he really showed amazing passing ability, shot creating, and finishing. This really influences me to not worry about the rankings or the offers and to just push myself to never give up and practice till I'm the best player I can be.
I’ve had many challenges in my life including family deaths, this has really pushed me in basketball and working out.. This has also pushed me to be a better person and not make some of the mistakes they made and to really be the best version of myself I can be. The thing that separates me from everyone else is my perseverance and determination because I hate losing and I push myself more than anyone else and i’m more determined than anyone. My career goal is to make it to the NBA, in order to achieve this goal I need the following short term goals: to make a good name for myself, make it to the NCAA or G league. My defining moment is when we played Earle and we were down like 18-0. It was the second quarter and then i’m the only one who scored for the whole half making the score 18-4. This is my defining moment because this shows my perseverance and determination that the game isn't over till the final buzzer.
