Personal Statement
I am a very athletic, hard-working, and versatile athlete. In basketball, I am capable of playing any spot on the wing, as well as down low in the paint due to my athleticism. I however do not just rely on my athleticism, I use my knowledge of the game, my court awareness, and my skills and fundamentals to help me become a big threat to opposing defenses. On the track team, I always strive to come first in all of our runs, and I am not afraid to do whatever event my coach needs me to do. Perhaps the biggest thing I am known for as an athlete, is the leadership and energy I bring to practice, the locker room, and in games and events. I am always the loudest kid on the court, whether it is me hyping up my teammates or calling out reads and plays. I also take practice very seriously, treating it like it is a game or event of its own by going at my teammates with my best. I always volunteer to guard the best player during scrimmages and games, and I do my everything that I can to help my teammates perform at their best. I feel I contain most of the necessary intangibles to compete at the college level, and should I continue to work on my craft I feel that could get there.
My competitiveness is not confined to only sports, it follows me everywhere I go, especially into the classroom. I strive to be the best in my class. I take pride in my school work, and I never settle. Complacency is a trap that I never want to fall into. If I have a B, I want it to be an A, and although it may be difficult, I still do everything that I can to work it up. I understand that my athletic career could be short, and that my education will follow me forever, therefore to me they are of equal importance.
