Growing up in a small, surfing city like Santa Cruz has heavily affected my life. The laid back vibes, the ongoing beaches, and high class experiences are not perfect attributes to assemble a competitive basketball player. Luckily, my parents aren't from Santa Cruz so they raised me differently then a typical beach kid. In the 3rd grade, they introduced me to basketball instead of a surfboard because of my immense height and my athletic potentials. It quickly changed my life and by the 5th grade, I knew what my main focus was going to be for my future alongside the hobbies of soccer, baseball, and hanging with friends. Through the almost 10 years of playing this sport, I learned from many coaches and mentors that leadership, being on time, and working for what you want are the most significant and beneficial practices not only in basketball, but in the outside world. My goal in high school academically is to challenge myself and study through spots of adversity so the struggles of college will be less degrading and maybe more joyful. For college, my plan is to go to a school that I feel most comfortable academically and athletically at and have a smooth, jubilant path to a degree in maybe some sort of business or sport analytics. Academically, I want to put myself down the right path so I can live life with a job that I love. The "Santa Cruz Mentality" is the infectious, ruthless obstacle that I deal with everyday. Its not a bad thing in general, but it has a long history of making athletes succumb to the surfer-like lifestyle of Santa Cruz. Fighting the temptations of relaxing and kicking back has augmented my skills of prioritizing the right things and has enhanced my ability to have success in a rush..
