My favorite thing to do is compete. I have grown up as the youngest of five kids in a very competitive family, and that has taught me to be a strong person. By being home schooled from kindergarten through my freshman year in high school, I learned how to be productive with my time and self-motivated with the work that was given to me. As a home school student, the path for basketball was not always clear. I ended up playing on many teams with different coaches, and that forced me to adjust to their systems and their styles of coaching.
My dream is to earn a top-tier education and to compete on the basketball court at the collegiate level. Every day I focus on making those dreams come true by taking care of business in the classroom and in the gym. I have maintained a 3.6 GPA or higher throughout high school, and I was a starter on the varsity basketball team at my high school for seven games my sophomore season. There is always something I have in mind to improve when I walk in the gym, whether it’s a specific ball handling move I did not execute properly the last time I played or a shot on the floor that needs work. When I see improvement in that area, that progress only drives me to work harder; it shows me that the opportunity is always there to get better.
