Personal Statement
My name is Jeremiah Minegar and I am a 6'3 weigh 168 pound guard. I play basketball for Linfield Christian High School as well as travel ball for Gamepoint Inland Empire. My sophmore year, I was captain of my junior varsity team and helped the team secure the league champion title. I continue to learn how to lead while growing as a player through feedback from my coaches and never giving less than 100% on the court. In addition to my team practices, I am currently working individually with a coach to improve my shooting and ball handling skills. I am looking forward to a leader on the varsity squad next year.
I became interested in basketball in fourth grade because a close friend encouraged me to play. I joined our local city league and quickly developed a passion for the sport. During my middle school years, I lost my father and the support of my teammates and coaches helped me stay focused on both school and basketball during a very difficult time. This taught me importance of team loyalty and how supporting one another off the court leads to greatness on the court.
My high school academic goal is to raise my GPA to a 3.2. I realize academics is equally important to potential colleges because it shows I know how to balance a busy schedule. I am interested in colleges that have a strong basketball program but also realize the importance of earning a degree.
