Personal Statement

Basketball is a big part of my life where I learn valuable lessons on and off the court. I've learned to be very meticulous with my work. My work ethic lives in school and on the court. I find time to work out with coaches and by myself to master my skills and become a threat on the floor. I challenge myself with advanced classes to compete with other college applicants. I've learned how to grow as a leader and how to work with people I've never met before. I volunteered to be a CYO basketball assistant coach to help younger players with what they need to work on and to share some of my past challenges that they might face. When I reach college, I want to focus on my schoolwork and still get to play the game I love at a high level. Time management was a key aspect of how I maintained a student-athlete. Even though I've faced many challenges throughout my athletic career, I've learned to overcome them with the support of my teammates, coaches, friends, and family.

  • 1 year
  • The High School Basketball All-American Showcase Staff PLAYER EVALUATION: Neil Tongson 5' 11 135 Forward, Guard 2021 NAIA or JUCO He shows nice moves when attacking the basket. A player who moves well without the basketball on offense. He has a solid I Q for the game and makes smart passes and decisions during the game. Will set screens and looks to attack the basket on offense. Tends to move slow at times on the court. Needs to build speed and work on footwork and agility. Must be able to finish plays to the rim off penetration. Hustle after loose balls. Must work on court awareness and vision when making passes up court and getting teammates involved. Has good potential to get better.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
