Personal Statement
My name is Jordan Golan. I pride my self on being the best student-athlete possible. The term student-athlete can carry a very positive connotation as a role model and leader at your respective school. Personally, this means that I have the responsibility to be a leader not only on a the basketball court, but in the classroom as well. I pursue both academic excellence and athletic success through hard work and perseverance. I hope my collegiate experience, provides the same academic rigor, combined with the experience and work that comes with being on a collegiate basketball team.
Athletically, I have been on Northgate High School’s varsity basketball team for the past three years. Since my first day on the team, as the youngest player, I prided myself on being the hardest worker. As I grew, and became stronger, my hunger to work hard and get better never diminished, but instead grew. Personally, I live the modo “you get better by working when no one is watching.” This same mentality can be expected of me at the collegiate level. In terms of skills on the basketball court, I am strong dribbling and controlling the basketball, and have a very good jump shot from both within and outside the three point line. Together these constitute a very good point guard.
Academically, I am a strong student. I love the challenge of academically rigorous courses. Last year I was ranked #1 in my class of 378 with a 4.8 GPA. I took five AP/Honors course this year: AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Literature, and Honors Spanish. I will also be taking five AP classes my senior year. On my ACT, I scored a 34 with a 9 on the essay this fall.
My character and drive both academically and athletically makes me a excellent candidate for collegiate basketball at a great school.
