My name Is Hector Diaz Jr, I am 5'10" and I am a shooting guard/ point guard at Summit High School in Breckenridge, CO. During my freshman year, I played on the junior varsity team, and with hard work and determination my sophomore year I was starting varsity. During my freshman year, I maintained good grades and received two awards for being the most motivated. I began playing basketball in 3rd grade and ever since I stepped on the court I knew basketball was my sport. I have always loved the thrill and the fast pace aspects of the game. Basketball has also helped build my character by showing me the ropes of what it means to be a leader and a role model on and off the court. What I've learned from my experience playing basketball is that there are no off days, effort and determination is necessary in order to succeed. This offseason I'm hoping to gain more mass and work on improving my defense. My goal for High School is to graduate and get my diploma and start a career in sports medicine. I hope to practice these studies and receive a degree in sports medicine once I graduate from university. Being a student-athlete in Summit has not always been easy, after having a choppy season sophomore year (5-18) I worked even harder in my junior year to have the best season possible. By filling in as leading the point guard role I lead my team in assist and second in points scored. My team and I made the playoff tournament with the 28th seed. The first time in 10 plus years our school has made the playoffs. After the season was over I was voted MVP Western slope all-conference honorable mention. With the support of my family and friends, I hope to pursue the game of basketball at the next level.
