I remember the exact moment I fell in love with basketball. Nine years ago, I was sitting in front of the television watch the 2010 NBA Finals. I remember watching Kobe Bryant and being fascinated by how locked in he seemed to be. I didn't know it at the time, but watching that game really changed my life. I have tried to adopt the mentality that made Kobe so successful, and I use that in everything, especially my academics. I have to tried to adopt his leader mentality and I believe that I help my teammates and peers rise up to their potential.
Fast forward to my regional basketball tournament during my sophomore year. One might expect me to say that we won the game and I played great, but that is not the truth. We lost and I played my worst game of the season. I reflected on that feeling for a bit and decided that I needed to up my intensity and focus. I was feeling too comfortable and I realized that I have to be out of my comfort zone. I believe that one has to push themselves if they want to better themselves. You can't be comfortable.
