Personal Statement:
From a young age I have always been fascinated by sports. Watching anything from basketball to football, I have been amazed by the athleticism that the players have shown. I have played basketball, football, and track competitively. Basketball became my favorite of the three in my freshman year and is what I am looking to pursue as a sport in college. I am looking for a successful college career that involves playing basketball while receiving a good college education in nursing. During class I have always given it my best effort, achieving goals the rest of my class has not been able to reach, including yearly student athlete awards and National Honor Society. My attitude remains the same while playing basketball, which makes me an easily coachable player. I was awarded most improved player my sophomore year by my coaches and this year I was elected by my team-mates as team captain for the year. In addition to these athletic and academic achievements, have held office as class Vice President, and have served as an assistant coach for our schools little league basketball program.
Every day I spend at least two hours practicing basketball, executing drills that go from improving my ball handling, to improving my shooting skills. I especially enjoy playing defense, and performing as a big man on the block under the net while on offense. I have always been extremely competitive, and I love playing against other players and shutting them down. I hate to lose, but I also realize that losing can help me learn from my mistakes and move on to the next game with a set goal of winning. I do not expect to be given anything, and realize that I must continue
work hard to achieve my goals. It will require all of my effort and dedication, but I know that it will be worth it in the end.
Thanks for taking the time to consider me and I hope to hear from you soon.
