Personal Statement
I’ve always enjoyed shooting hoops but now especially enjoy reading the floor to find open teammates. I like the strategy of being a point guard and also playing defense. My coaches have consistently said that I am teachable, a good leader, strong defensive player, and all-around freak athlete. I play football, basketball, and baseball. I plan to play basketball in college. I started playing basketball in second grade and started Varsity high school athletics in middle school. I was homeschooled from K to 10th grade. In my state, public schools do not allow homeschooled athletes, so I had to travel to schools that were open to me.
My sophomore year, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I wasn’t able to connect with my previous team of 3 years due to the commute and my mom’s health situation, so I played for a more local league. My junior year, I began attending my local public high school and was part of the Varsity basketball team there. I was injured with an ac joint sprain and shoulder dislocation in the left shoulder and didn’t play, but continued to attend all practices and games to support my team. After a return to play protocol I was cleared to play, but then COVID shut down sports.
I have continued to work out on my own running, lifting, and drilling skills, working out in private -coaching sessions, doing summer elite camps (Nike Sacred Heart Univeristy camp, twice at Liberty University summer elite camp, working with a private coach form CoachUp) and playing in various leagues in my area. Due to COVID, there have been limited opportunities for organized basketball since March 2020. I hope we will have a winter season.
I have also faced dyslexia all my life as a student. It has taught me discipline and perseverance. I'm still working on my profile. More video is coming.
