Personal Statement

UPDATE: Thanks to the tools and resources available to me through NCSA, I've been offered and accepted a playing opportunity at Finger Lakes Community College for the next two years.

To start off with a little about me, I grew up in Alexandria, VA but I’ve been living in Washington D.C. for 3 years. I’ve been playing basketball since I was 8, outside of that I like to play video games and listen to music. I am also a fan of history, which is my favorite subject in school. I really enjoy learning about my cultural history.

Basketball wasn't something that came naturally to me. My mom put me on a team because I needed an outlet. I wasn’t very good at all! Lol! But I loved it and I got better and better with every game and every practice. Growing up in a single parent household, my mom wasn’t always in the best position to pay for camps and trainers, so I spent hours outside on my own playing and practicing. At a young age, I developed a work ethic and an ambition to play and improve

My Junior year playing varsity is important to me because I was determined to prove to everybody that I could play. Each big game we played, when those lights shined the brightest, I always made sure I stepped up and performed. I loved being in the moment competing and showing what I could do.  Being a guy who comes off the bench and make an immediate impact gave me much more joy than being a starter. I believe finding out who I was, believing in my ability is the greatest thing I learned that year.

I'd love to play professionally in the future but right now I'm just focusing on making it to college, making my mom proud, and being a role model for my baby sister. Not playing my senior season and AAU season being canceled has made me more motivated and determined than I’ve ever been. I've decided to do a prep year with Olympus  Prep Academy in New Jersey this year to continue to train and develop my skills. I don't know when things will return to normal, but when it does, I'll be ready! I'm willing to be anything a team needs me to be. I don't care about my stats or personal accolades. I simply want to play and I want to win. I'

  • "The prep program will unequivocally change the way our students train and prepare to play the game. Those changes will be a major contributing factor in where they play college basketball. It will also give them a unique understanding of what it will take to play at the next level." Phone: 856.283.0232 Email: [email protected]
