Rendijs Feikners '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Rendijs Feikners. I am from Riga, Latvia. I was point guard for the U16 Latvia National basketball team in 2012 FIBA European Championship and starting point guard for the U18 Latvia National basketball team in 2013/2014. Currently I am a candidate for the U20 Latvia National basketball team for U20 European Championship Men 2016.  Two seasons ago in Latvia I had a big role as a point guard and shooting guard in my previous team – Vef Kadeti, 2013-2014. I shot 2FG with 50%. I averaged 14.0 points per game,  4.2 rebounds per game and 4.7 assists per game.

I am a quick point guard/shooting guard with a big international experience. I can bring a good skill set at the point guard and shooting guard position, due to my good vision, change of pace, attacking the basket, passing and scoring off the pick and roll, basketball IQ. I came to Virginia for my senior basketball season. I had an up & down season, due to the different style of play here in US. 

This year 2015/2016 I am a Post Graduate enrolled in the Elevation Preparatory Academy, as well as, the Impact Basketball Academy in Sarasota, FL. I decided to take an extra year after high school to prepare for college and to earn academic and athletic scholarships. GPA: 3.8 SAT score: 1510 (reading 440, math 590, writing 480) TOEFL score: 84

I feel that I can offer a lot of great things to a team. I always play hard until the end of the game, no matter what the score is. I practice as hard as I can and I am not afraid of difficulties. It has always been my dream to play college basketball and to play in the NCAA tournament.

Highlights: YEAR 2014/2015. Best game was in the 2014 SCOPE HOLIDAY INVITATIONAL basketball tournament 18 points against Heritage High School. Rendijs made a half court buzzer beater in the end of the second quarter. At the end of the game team won by 2 pts.

Since childhood I've always worked hard on my grades, because I have set high goals in my life and I strive for them. In Latvia I studied in the best gymnasium which is well known for having a great and competitive education internationally. Every year I received honor roll and my GPA was 3.8.

Last year 2014/2015 I was in an exchange year in US. I was a senior enrolled in the Global Studies and World Language Academy in Tallwood High School, Virginia Beach but I wasn't allowed to graduate from this school because of Virginia Beach City Public Schools rules. I took a GED test and received high school equivalent diploma on June 23, 2015 because I wanted to study and play basketball in US.
