Personal Statement
Hello, I'm London Kassab. I'm a 5'10", 148 lb., Senior PG for Hilliard Middle Senior High School. I turned 17 this summer and I work hard both on and off the court. I have a passion for playing basketball. I love the game and work hard everyday. I believe in continually improving my game. I never want to stop getting better. I always put God first, and I am dedicated to my family, school and basketball. It takes a lot of work, but I'm determined to succeed in all aspects of my life. I believe if I work hard, pray hard, and play hard I will reach my goals of playing and leading a team at the next level. My coaches say I'm one of the most skilled and coachable kids they have coached, it makes me proud for them to notice my hard work and willingness to grow as an athlete.
This summer I had a phenomenal summer league, averaging around 16 Points per game and 8 assists per game at our Brantley GA Tournament. I also played phenomenal at our next tournament, averaging 17 Points per game, 8 assists per game, and 2 steals per game throughout our camp down at FL Tech, in Melbourne, Fl.
This school year, I have focused on strength training and workouts. I get up at 6:45 in the morning and workout and have weight training again in the afternoon. Along with working out twice a day, I also workout with our varsity coach, Myron Saunders, for up to 4 hours a day. I'm looking forward to an exciting season and getting noticed. It's my dream to play collegiate basketball and I know I will bring a fresh enthusiasm and determined attitude to any team I play for.
As far as my academic success goes, I'm a 4.2 GPA student ranked 23rd in my class. I take several Honors and AP courses. I also take Dual Enrollment college classes online with Florida State Jacksonville College. I am Vice-President of Beta, Secretary of National Honors Society, on the Senior Class Committee, I have been elected as a Senior class superlative, and also got selected on our Senior Homecoming Court.
In my community, I have over 100+ community service hours. I have volunteered at nursing homes, senior centers, cleaning veterans yards, flagging for volleyball, at the elementary school, collected for battered women, town clean-up, relay for life, prayer at the pole, and handing out Blessing bags to the homeless. I believe character and leadership are an important aspects in all I do. I am a leader on and off the court too. I try and set the example of a good work ethic, strong morals, and encouragement on my team. I demonstrate my leadership with my teammates through a positive attitude and giving 100%. I show them that with hard work and faith you cannot only reach, but exceed your goals.
I am currently active in applying and reaching out to schools and coaches. I hope that playing basketball at the collegiate level will help me be more successful in life. I'm ready to work as hard as it takes, and I would be honored if you took the time to check out my profile and watch some of my highlight videos. Thank you in advance for you time.
