2022 Highlights Personal Statement
Basketball has been more than just sports to me, it has shaped who I am. Standing at 6’6”, I’ve spent my high school career pushing myself to be the best athlete and teammate I can be. I’ve played basketball all four years, taking on the roles of power forward, small forward, and center, and I also had the opportunity to play at Football for Lakeland High School. Through every practice, game, and challenge, I’ve learned the value of discipline, leadership, and perseverance.
As a senior in the Class of 2025, I am eager to continue my athletic journey at the collegiate level while pursuing my education. I thrive in competitive environments, adapt quickly, and am always striving to improve both on and off the court. My goal is to contribute to a program that values hard work, teamwork, and growth.
I am ready for the next level and excited for the opportunity to bring my dedication, skills, and passion to a college team.

- Axel Acevedo has slimmed down and added muscle to his frame. The 2025 6-foot-6 McKeel forward seems to always be in the right spots to make plays around the rim as a put back artist and core rebounder. Acevedo simply moves guys with his length and size. He is someone who works hard and continues to improve his game. His ability to create off-feeds with his dribble drive is improving as well. Look for Acevedo to turn a lot of heads during his senior year in Polk County.

- Acevedo is a Board Man that eats in the paint as he was one of my top offensive Big Men standouts. He constantly crashed the boards for easy put back layups or made it happen for himself with smooth footwork for his size. He’s also active with his hands of the defensive end while providing solid rim protection. Have to keep my eyes on the Polk County prospect this fall season.
