Personal Statement
UT CHATTANOOGA RELEASE IN ACADEMIC SECTION OF PROFILE UNDER REPORT CARD "RELEASE"
My name is Jonathan Devon Bryant II and my enthusiasm for the game of basketball started at a very young age. Though I had always enjoyed playing basketball with friends, my interest in the game intensified when I was 6 years old playing basketball in Hawaii and then on to Fort Huachuca, Arizona through the MWR. I revel in playing the game. The better the competition, the better I play. I have every intention of playing basketball in college but the question remains where that will be. While I am a basketball player, I am not singularly defined. I have taken the discipline from sports and applied it equally to my studies. I work very hard in school maintaining a 3.1 GPA at one of the most challenging schools in Orange Park Fl. which is a "A" school. As, I began to play regularly and work hard I made the Junior High football team as a running back and as a right defensive of tackle in which I was very instrumental in us becoming District Champs. I also was selected by my Coaches as The Best Defensive of Lineman of the year.
As I continued to improve, I made the Oakleaf Junior High School Basketball team as one of the five seventh graders on the team in which I was a starter. During my first summer year playing AAU basketball, I was the league's top scorer and rebounder for my team. In order to develop the skill set required to secure a position on my high school basketball team, I relentlessly worked on every aspect of my game. I ran to build endurance, worked on my defense and tried to perfect my jump shot and dribbling ability. This hard work and determination paid off me when I was selected to be on the Oakleaf High School Varsity Basketball team as a freshman during summer league.
I still have that same enthusiasm and dedication and work ethic as I continue to work very hard on a daily basis on and off the court to improve my game. I'm looking to win championships and be the best player that I can possibly be. That is why I work so hard because I just love the game.~~At this time, I have not determined my major but am leaning toward an undergraduate degree in math/economics. To summarize my dreams, goals, and aspirations, I would say that I am anxious to select a college where I can commit 100% to give my personal best in both the basketball and academic programs.
