Jachin Mertes '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jachin Mertes and I am a 6’6” shooting guard from Boise, Idaho.  Basketball has always been my true passion and it is what drives me every day to put in the work to better my skills.  I am first and foremost a hustler, giving 110% at all times on the court.  I am a shooter who can also use my length to get to the hoop.  I take feedback and am quick to learn from my coaches and continue to develop my basketball IQ to see plays as they develop on the court.  I pride myself in being a leader on and off the court.  After being nominated to several leadership groups at my school, I have had the opportunity to represent other students/athletes and also serve my community.  I take my academics seriously and continue to maintain a 4.1 GPA while taking AP and accelerated courses.  My dream is to play college basketball and I am willing to put in the work to make it happen!
