Hi,
My name is Tyrel Derrick and I am a senior at Lakeland High School in Rathdrum, Idaho. I am a 6'0 point guard who averaged 17.8 ppg and 6.8 assists/game during my junior season. I believe I would be a good fit for a team that is looking for a prototypical point guard that has excellent vision, can hit the open shot, as well as someone who can create a lot of opportunities for his teammates by breaking down the defense with penetration. I believe I possess solid leadership skills and I am a person of integrity. I played point guard for the Eastern Washington Elite Red Team, U-17 team this past spring and summer. I have been the starting point guard for the varsity team since my freshmen year.
I am a well rounded student athlete that has a strong work ethic. My cumulative GPA is a 3.89, I took my ACT test this fall and got a 28. I am currently undecided on a career field and am looking forward to explore different options the first couple of years of school and then choosing a major.
I have grown up in our high school gym, because my dad was the varsity coach for the boys' varsity team for fifteen years and is currently our school's athletic director. I was most recently named "Player of the Year" in our conference, selected to be on the Idaho Spokesman Review "All North Idaho Team", and also named "Outstanding High School Basketball Player in North Idaho" at the Idaho Hall of Fame Banquet.
Sincerely,
Tyrel Derrick
