Hello coaches,
My name is Luis Emiliano Zamudio, thank you for viewing my profile. My family, teammates, friends, coaches and teachers refer to me as Emmy.
I am a student athlete who aspires to continue my growth and development in both areas and as a person into college and beyond. Over the years I have learned many valuable lessons which have helped me understand that by working hard, having humility, listening, and helping others; I can become a better person, a good teammate and a leader as well. While I still have much to learn, with the support and guidance my father and the rest of my family gives me, I hope to take the path that will afford me the best opportunities to be successful as a student athlete in college as well!
As a basketball player, I am a very hard working and very coachable individual. I am a combo guard who possesses a high basketball IQ. I am a willing passer, I can score from the outside and I'm capable of finding my spots to get in the lane to score or kick out as well. An area of my game that I am proud of is my willingness to work on the defensive end of the floor.
I have played in many pressure games, I know how to stay focused and do not fold under pressure. During my freshman year in high school I had the privilege of playing on the varsity team. In that season, I had a few starting opportunities and contributed as the team asked of me. The experience was great, I was able to check the different boxes on the stat sheet (points, rebounds, steals, assists) but I worked very hard on my defense which helped me earn more playing time. During the season I realized that I needed to work on a few different things, including getting into the weight room.
My sophomore year was a very short season due to COVID and unfortunately, I didn't have many opportunities to contribute. One highlight I can share from the season; I learned to be a better teammate supporting our seniors.
For my junior year, I worked on improving my all around game and practiced hard. When the season started, I came off the bench in our first game but as soon as I got on the court, I played as hard and as smart as I could and our coaches saw that. The next game, my coaches gave me the chance to start and I immediately knew I had to work harder. I started the rest of the season earning my coaches trust more every game. I became the primary ball handler getting our offense going and I continued to play hard on defense. The coaches nominated me for the most improved player on our team. This has motivated me to work harder and it's a chance to learn to be a leader going into my senior year. I'm proud of my contributions and being able to lead our team in assists, free throw %, shooting % and second in rebounding, has motivated me to work harder during the off season so I can improve to help our team get better.
As for the college I want to attend; I really want to be in a place where I can be given the opportunity to excel in the classroom and on the court. I would like to surround myself with coaches and professors who are willing to provide the mutual support and commitment we need to succeed.
Thank you for taking time to learn about me. I look forward to working hard for you and our team!
