Tommy Nelson '19 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Tommy Nelson. I love to golf and I love being part of a team. I believe college golf is right for me.

I am 6’5”, 195 pounds and am a two-sport athlete. Aside from golf, I am also a starter on our varsity basketball state ranked team and a serious student in the classroom. As the youngest student in my class (birthdate - 08/29/01), I have been a member of the Central Catholic Varsity Golf team since my freshman year where we placed sixth in the 1A Illinois State Championship.

I have improved year over year lowering my scores from the mid to high 80’s to the mid to high 70’s. I missed the State Championship my sophomore year placing in a tie for 11^th at sectionals with a score of 78. Through hard work and determination I was able to qualify for the State Championship my junior year with a 76. I am determined and excited to keep improving my game my senior season and look forward to qualifying again for the State Championship.

I take individual instruction from a golf professional and work on my game year round playing in tournaments during both the spring and summer. I also work with a professional strength and conditioning trainer 2-3 times a week to help my strength, speed and coordination.
