Personal Statement
Dunbar Winning the Class 2A IHSA Regional Championship in my Senior year was the highlight of my high school career. However, I feel I grew the most as a student-athlete my Junior year when our team didn't win the Class 2A Regionals. After experiencing the loss it helped me grow as a person and lead me to set my goals on putting more efforts on becoming a solid shooting guard capable of playing at the collegiate level.
Being a part of an amazing program at Dunbar was an opportunity to grow and experience the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Dunbar Mighty Men finishing 2nd in the Chicago Public League White Central, and capturing the Class 2A Sweet Sixteen berth by winning the Dunbar Regional was a wonderful experience. I learned that teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership are the most valuable things in the game of basketball in order for a team to be successful.
I’m looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I’m confident in my abilities as an athlete. I can naturally jump and I’m an all-around player. I’ve been on the Honor Roll and in the top 10 of my class all 4 years of high school. I believe that I have the talent to compete for a college team. My character, work ethic, and leadership skills will make an immediate impact on your program. As an athlete, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!
