Personal Statement

As a 6 ft player at my school, I play small forward sometimes because we don't have much height. However, I mainly train like a point guard, and that's the position I would like to play in college if I were to be recruited. I have been captain of my basketball team for 3 years in a row now and I'm looking to being captain again in senior year. I am really looking into playing Division 1 men's basketball in college since my goal is to go professional. That has been my dream for almost 8 years now and I'm really hoping to make it. My high school is fairly new and is barely heard of with sports because they don't focus on that as much, but I can guarantee that I would be able to play at the college level with Division 1 players. I believe this because I am disciplined and I have taken advantage of opportunities to become a better player. Off the court, I spend a lot of time training and disciplining myself to get better. While on the court or in practice, I always try my best and enjoy playing. I try to be the one that gives hope to the team or motivates them. In practice, you will never see me stop or give up, it doesn't matter how hard it gets. I always push on so my teammates could keep up and not stop either. Not only can I go hard on the court, but I also have excellent grades in my classes. I am one of the top students at my school and I always try to do better.

Academic Accomplishments

Are you in honor classes?
Yes. While in Sophomore year, I thought that the Honors classes weren't so tough because I did well in them. However, this year is a bit different. Although, I manage to keep my grades high, it is more stressful and more time consuming because the classes got harder. I am taking 3 honors classes: Algebra 2/Trig, Biology, and English. I am able to manage all of the work I have because of being more organized than past years. Yes, they are hard classes and maybe confusing at times, but I try to study a lot to receive the grade that I want.
Are you in AP/IB classes?
Yes. As a student in an AP US History class, I am expected to work hard and give it my all. This class consists of tons of reading and going into depth on history and making sure we understand why and what happened. I am really able to manage all of my time to make sure I do all of my work and study for big tests/exams. In this class, we also write a DBQ every 2 weeks to make sure we're well trained for the big AP Exam.
