Personal Statement
My name is Keigan Powe from Freeport High School. I am currently a senior in high school and I came off the bench as the backup shooting guard or small forward last year. Our basketball program hasn’t been the best in the last few years, not getting more than 10 wins in the last 2 years, but last year I was a part of the team who finally got us back to the double-digit win column. At the beginning of the year, I was getting 4-5 minutes per game if I had got in at all, but a lot of hard work in practice and in my free time changed that, and I ended the year being one of the first people off the bench getting 10-15 minutes per game, and even getting a start along with that. I had many big games for the team, and win or lose I always tried my best to help the team come out on top. I got multiple KFC Player of The Game awards during the season, and at the end of the year got a “Simmy” award for always staying positive and working hard through whatever we went through as a team, and ultimately being positive at all times. I am very interested in playing at the next level and being the best basketball player I can be if I am given the chance to do so.
