Personal Statement
I am Adese Joel and I was born in Nigeria. Looking at the fact that I am a foreigner, I think that is the detail of my life that has affected who I am, plus the fact that I play basketball - a renowned game here in the USA. Going to a Catholic Boarding School has also had an impact. I became interested in sport right around the age of fourteen, and I became more interested in it through my coaches especially, who saw that I could make something of great value from it. The game of basketball is like a venom on its own, it appeals a lot to the emotions which could get out of hand-like getting angry, etc. Through this game, I have realized that I have to get the next play going and not allow a previous bad play to affect the next, and this plays perfectly into life and even my academics, especially my academic goals-to always make the next grade better and not allow a bad grade affect anything in the future. This will also help me to get the degrees I desire in college thereby living a solid life. To get where I am now took a lot of hard work both academically and physically, and this hard work still continues. Academically, I don't consider any subject to be too hard as long as you study well enough. Studying well is one unique characteristic I think I possess. Physically, I think getting myself in to the low post, rebounding, blocking shots, getting to the bucket, and shooting free throws are some of the skills I posses. I am working hard this off season on becoming a great ball handler and outside shooter, and overall I am very hardworking.
