Personal Statement
My ultimate goal is to play high level basketball on a big floor. I've always been able to beat odds and I believe I will continue to do that. My work ethic is the best part of my game. I know that the minute you stop working is the minute someone else passes you up. My character is shown even off the court I believe as well. A school district in our city is really poor and has a lot of kids on the homeless list. I decided that they needed help and I started a shoe charity. With the help of family and friends we were able to give over 700 pairs of nice, barely worn shoes to kids in need. We continue to serve the district as well. I would love to work for Nike one day and make the shoe charity even bigger and better. I was recently nominated for a volunteer award for my efforts with my charity. I think any coach would want me on their team, because I pride myself on working hard on and off the court all the time. I'm a fiery player and I will push that fire into the rest of my team mates so that we can always finish a game feeling like we left everything on the floor.
I am a 5'9 starting varsity point guard. My high school team, Rockford Christian Life, ended the year my freshman year 25-4 winning a regional title but losing in semi-sectionals. I ended the season with 299 points as of now in my sophomore season I am currently at 822 points for my career. I am my current teams assists leader with 8 apg and have a game high scoring of 45 points in 2 quarters of play. As a freshman I was named Christian Schools 3rd team all state as well as "Newcomers Team" and "Freshman Of the Year". In my current Sophomore season that is still underway I was named to the all tournament team for both my thanksgiving tournament, and my Christmas tournament. Both tournaments had over 20 schools in attendance, my school being the smallest in attendance. Right now I am one of the leading scorer in the area, averaging 23 PPG. I am shooting 60% from the floor and 80% from the free throw line. Also I average 5 RPG, 8 APG, and 4 STPG a game while I average less than 2 turn overs per game.
Even though I've found a lot of success at an early age, I've also learned to fail and work twice as hard to get ahead and win again. My AAU team went 40-6 this past Winter season. I averaged 18 PPG with 10 assists, 5 steals, and shot 80% from the free throw line. This year my AAU team will be all over the country again playing on the circuit.
