Personal Statement
Ever since I could remember, I've had a basketball in my hands. Fast forward 13 years, and I was a Freshman on Varsity, in a Regional game tied at 51 with 2 minutes left. It was probably the most fun time I've had in my life, but we lost. After we lost, I realized that was just one small moment, in a big journey. I only played 5 Varsity games last year due to injury, but that just made me even hungrier to get better as a player for the College level.
My school has a decent basketball program, that was at it's peak from 2010-2013. In the past 4 years, it hasn't had above a .500 season, but that doesn't stop me from trying to better our team by becoming friends with most of them, scheduling workouts , and doing drills together. What I've learned from being around losing teams, is that somebody has to step up and be a leader, someone has to put in the extra work to relate to everyone, and someone has to lead by example. I'm really looking for a program that suits me academically, as well as competitively. I don't think that I can play college basketball because of my size, I believe I can play college basketball because of my leadership, work-ethic, and communication skills. As a Freshman and Sophomore Varsity athlete in 3 sports, I have learned how to push the extra mile in order to make your team better!
