Personal Statement

Since the first time I stepped onto a basketball court, my goal has been to play basketball at a higher level. Another goal of mine is to always be the best version of myself on and off the court. I've always been taught to be a better person before being a basketball player. I strive to be both. My goal is to secure a college that fits me best for both academics and athletics. Something that I feel separates me from the rest is that I work my hardest even when nobody is around. I train and practice my hardest alone, because I know I am outworking people that aren't doing anything. When I train, I give maximum effort 100% of the time so that I can be ready to play to basketball at the college level. As a leader, not only do I want to better myself, but I want to better my teammates around me. I know I value what I learn from my teammates. In my opinion, that two-way learning and lifting up one another, goes hand-in-hand. In conclusion, it is my goal to continue to grow and learn in the game of basketball and life at the collegiate level. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  • Skillset Overview Technical Abilities - 89 / 100 Footwork - Quality use of triple threat position and pivoting. Quick first step. Always on balance and ready to react on both offense and defense Shooting - Accurate shooter. Always on balance and ready to confidently step into shot. Tactical Abilities - 89 / 100 Game Read - Does well seeing the play before it happens and reading the other team to help put himself in a good position on the court. Recognizes the pace of the game and controls it depending on team need. O Awareness - Recognizes when to shoot or pass. Awareness of time and score of the game and makes plays accordingly Physical Abilities - 87 / 100 Endurance - Great work rate throughout camp. Showed endurance that helped effectiveness, especially late. Strength - Did a good job handling challenges and showed power in attacks/serves/setting/defensive positions. Mental Abilities - 87 / 100 Team Player - Great team-first attitude. Was encouraging and supportive to teammates throughout camp. Passion - Brings energy to every session that was contagious. Great approach to the game! Coach's Comments Brock had one of the best looking shots, if not the best jump shot in the camp. Great balance and a consistent release will have Brock as a lights out high school shooter this summer and in the winter season to come. He also had the presence of mind to pass up good shots for great shots instead of just shooting whenever he touched the ball. Once teams see you can shoot, defenders will be closing out hard on your shot, which will test whether or not you can be an explosive driver. Work on a quick first step off the shot fake and various finishes in the lane. When you have advanced basketball knowledge (as it appeared you did), you need to share it with teammates. Don't hesitate to talk to guys (one-on-one, on the bench, or on the floor during dead balls) correcting mistakes in a positive/solution oriented manner.
