Gary Lewis '23 Recruiting Profile

I remember being in 4th or 5th grade wanting to play basketball but not able to excel. My dad pulled me to the side and said "Son, do you want to play basketball?" I said yes. My dad then began, "well son you are going to have to work hard." I did not realize all the hard work that awaited me. Dribbling drills, camps, training sessions, and multiple teams to get experience. This was work I did not prepare for but I bought into the plan. My dad is so passionate about basketball but I was not sure it was for me. After all he had been somewhat of a local legend(don't tell him I said so)-would I be able to match him? I saw my skills grow, I saw my confidence grow, and I saw my determination grow. By freshman year I was playing varsity and now sophomore year I am a starting player on varsity. I now believe in myself and my love for the sport. My hard work and my determination continues. I want my skills to continue to grow and I am sure I can be the player that I have dreamed of. After all, I am no lOnger afraid of hard work, repetition, or even criticism. Every day I work to grow and become better. 

The next level is college. I want to see that dream trough and make it a reality.  So if I was selected to your team what would I offer? The hard work, determination, and drive like you have never seen before. I want to be an all around player-not just offense but defense, assists, and rebounds as well. I will work hard for you every day and most days longer than required. All I need is the opportunity to prove it.
