Personal Statement
My name is Peter Buttemere. I was born in the U.S. but have spent 14 years of my life living in North Macedonia. I am the second of 6 children, and as a result have grown up to be highly competitive. However, I have also gained many skills and developed values such as cooperation and loyalty with having such a big family. In addition, as an American living abroad, I have learned many things about culture and adapting to life in a different place. I have played club basketball in North Macedonia for 7 years now, and have devoted countless hours to learning more about the game and getting better at it. My team is called Vodno Suns Partizan, and we won the U16 national championship in 2022. We practice 6 times a week for 2 hours, including 30 minutes of strengthening and conditioning training prior to practice. In terms of academics, I have a 4.0 GPA, achieved a score of 1450 on the PSAT/NMSQT, and participate in an extracurricular activity called knowledge bowl. I also enjoy other hobbies such as running, biking, and reading.
My dream is to be able to play basketball in college, and I am excited to get involved and learn more about the college recruiting process. Some of my greatest strengths as a player are rebounding, playing defense, getting steals and scoring inside, as well as being able to stretch the defense with 3 point shooting ability. I am willing to do whatever I can to try and help my team win by hustling and giving my best effort at all times.
