Personal Statement
My name is Guillermo García Ródenas, I was born on September, 30th 2000 in Valencia, Spain. I am currently studying my last year of High School in “Escolapios School” in Valencia. Last year I had a 3.2 GPA. I have been playing basketball in the Valencia basketball Club (current Spanish ACB League champion) for 6 years now.
My parents’ names are Cayetana and Lino. Although they are divorced since a long time ago, they get on really well and live in the same city. I live with my mother on weekdays and spend the weekends and holidays with my father.

My main interests as a student are getting good marks so I can be able to study at the University level what I love: Physiotherapy, Physical Education and Sports Sciences or Dietetics and Nutrition. My other main objective is of course to learn as much English as possible for considering it myself mandatory for my future, and I would like to get good marks at the SAT and TOEFL to be able to get a scholarship and fulfill my dream of studying and playing basketball in the USA. As a basketball player, my objectives are to improve little by little everyday, to win the Valencian League and play an important role in the Spanish championship as we have already done other times. But what I would love to do the most is to be able to play this sport in the USA.
As a basketball player, I am very fast and strong and I also have great organisational skills. I also have leadership skills which I have been demonstrating for these last four years being my team captain and also the Valencian League’s. Thanks to my father, who was also a basketball player and taught me individual techniques, I was able to learn very quickly and, being 10, I was preselected for the Valencian League. I currently attend training sessions five times a week, playing one or two matches and going to the weight room three times a week.
Apart from basketball as my favourite hobby, I also have others like sports in general (I used to play soccer as a child and I also swam and practiced ski and judo). I try to take care of myself so I can improve my performance. I am interested in Dietetics and also in the different kinds of training to keep myself really fit. I love the cinema very much (“The Godfather” is my favourite film), reading and listening to different kinds of music. Although I have never had the chance to learn how to play any musical instrument, I would have loved to play the guitar or the drums. I am also quite interested in Politics and History.
I Love the NBA too. I am a real fan, I follow that marvellous league religiously!
I would really like to know how the University there works, which are the degrees it offers , how are the championships and training there at university (I guess very diferent from here...).
