I am very interested in playing beyond high school. I love the game and what it offers. I want to go into business when I graduate college and I think basketball gives me the skills mentally to handle this profession.
I am currently a 6'8"-16 year old with size 18 shoe. My hand measures a 9.25 inches palm to tip of middle finger. I finished playing in my junior year of high school basketball. I led the league in blocked shots, 5th in the State. Last year I finished 3rd in the league as a sophomore. I in the top ten in rebounds and top quartile in points. I shot above 54% from the field and 50% from 15 feet and beyond. Last year I gained valuable experience playing against all-state post players, one of which was the Captain for the State Tournament Team.
While in high school I have played golf, basketball, baseball and soccer. All of these sports have provided a well-rounded athletic background. I play soccer to enhance my endurance and footwork for basketball. I also participated in Tae Kwon Do for several years reaching the temporary black belt level. All of these sports have taught me discipline and how to be humble. This has taught me a lot.
This spring I will be playing with the Iowa Barnstormer AAU program for third year. We will be playing in the New Balance league. I look forward to playing against top level talent.
A life changing moment for me was meeting and learning from Coach K at Duke Basketball Camp as a 7th grader. I was able to play with all high school players and learned so much from a variety of coaches and players. I currently train with Nick McFarlin, former DI basketball player, Jordan Harris, former college basketball and football player and current Women's Basketball Coach at Augustana College, in Rock Island, IL. They have taught me so much about work ethic and building my strength as a young man.
My skill set as an athlete has been centered around my: drive, positive attitude and perspective. I am grateful for my travel ball teams the past 8-years and we have successfully won over 16-tournaments in our time playing together. My travel teams consisted of kids that came from strong families and kids that came from challenging home lives. These have given me a unique perspective on life and its challenges.
Academics are very important to me, as I have earned Academic Excellence with a 4.0 in two school years. I continue to take challenging classes for my coursework. I was honored to have been chosen as the only Sophomore to be on my high school's Student Leadership Team last year. This team has met with the School District's Superintendent and the State of Iowa's Board of Education. Last year we interviewed our new Associate Principal. I also finished four years of Spanish during my freshman year. I will have successfully completed 12 credit hours of college business courses at the end of this semester.
My collegiate goals include: going to a 4-year University with a strong Business/Engineering program, that has a strong basketball program. I want to make a difference playing for and helping the team win a championship.
I would like to give you what I consider to be the top 3 reasons why you should consider me playing for your team:
1. Positive attitude/very coachable/team player
2. Academic Excellence
3. Physical attributes
I would forever be grateful for the opportunity to play basketball in college and look forward to discuss this with you further.
