Matthew McDermott '19 Recruiting Profile

I've been playing basketball for 6 years and gained a love and drive for the game since I've touched a basketball, I didn't always play basketball I used to play soccer and I used to swim but once I learned about the game of basketball,I wanted to learn more and be one of the best in the game since It was brought to me and been doing everything I can do improve as a basketball player everyday.

To be able to play for the college basketball team and do whatever I can do for the team to win and go get a championship this year and the following years. I am very ambitious and dedicated to my education and the game of basketball and will do anything I can do to make that team whether it's make good grades, sit on the bench for a couple of games or whatever it is that is provided.  I maintain good grades in the classroom and do what I can to always keep my grade up. I am planning to study business and gain all the knowledge I can to be one of the best businessmen in the world.

      What makes me different from other recruits in athletics and academics is that I am a team leader and  do my best to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates., also I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players for any team I am apart of.     Also, I am willingly to learn new things to adapt and adjust myself whether it makes me uncomfortable or not I would prefer it be uncomfortable because the more uncomfortable it is the more challenging it is for me and the more it will help me grow as a person and as a basketball player. Also when I do overcome those obstacles, I will look for more challenging things to overcome and face.
