Personal Statement
I started paying basketball when I was seven years old, so its been apart of me for quite awhile. I became fully invested in my basketball career the end of my 8th grade year when I realized I wasn't as good as I wanted to be. It morphed me into a dedicated individual who is deeply competitive, yet composed. Last year I was the starting point guard as a junior playing along side 4 other seniors. It taught me how to be a leader on and off the court having to tell the older guys what to do. A great trait I posses is having a good defensive IQ. I think that it is one thing that sets me apart from others because I create a lot of turnovers as I averaged 3.1 steals per game this season. I also want to maintain my GPA above a 3.5 because I am a person who has standards and I believe that grades are very important to ones success in anything. I would like to pursue an college with an outstanding academic reputation in the field of Exercise Science. Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate impact on the team. I believe my best fit would be at a bigger school closer to home, but will absolutely consider all opportunities.
