Basketball is my love and passion in life. I was introduced to the game when my parents enrolled me in the YMCA basketball program when I was in Kindergarten. I played Y ball through 3rd grade when I then joined a travel league on the team called Liberty representing World Class Sports. We played in MAYB tournaments and booster club tournaments. 7th grade, I then started playing for School where I continued playing the game I love. My parents have always been there to support and push me to give it my all and never give up. Basketball has taught me so many skills to prepare me for life. It has taught me that hard work and determination will pay off on and off the court. Basketball has also taught me the value of teamwork. Our team Moto for School is "surrender the me for we." It has been instilled in us to not be selfish and use your teammates for support. Basketball has also taught me mental and emotional stability. Rather you win or loose, there will always be times of frustration. These are opportunities to learn from your mistakes and take it as a growing opportunity not something to bring you down.
My Parents and the game of Basketball have taught me the value of work ethic. I can do anything I set my heart and mind to as long as I work for it. Coach-ability is a skill that has been taught to me from the very beginning. When my coaches are trying to teach me or tell me how I can fix something; I always make eye contact, acknowledge what they are saying and then go out and do it. I have great court awareness that allows me to be able to critically think and make smart decisions in all situations. I am also a great leader on and off the court. I know that the decisions I make off the court will follow me on to the court. These are skills I can bring to any team.
In my free time I play the drums. I have played since 6th grade and play for my local school band and jazz band. I am also on my high school drum line. Playing the drums has helped me with coordination and being able to do skills with both my right and left side equally. During my off season I continue to spend time training and working out. I also enjoy spending time at the family lake house through the summer.
My goals for high school is to continue to grow physically, emotionally, personally and academically. Taking my skills to the next level by playing College Basketball would be the next step. After my days of playing basketball is over I would like to look into sports management or even become a Firefighter like my dad.
