Personal Statement
My name is Zachary Patterson and I am a 6'3, 170lb combo guard. I have been around basketball my whole life, considering that my dad and grandfather both played Division 1 basketball. I am also blessed to have my dad as my high school basketball coach. I have played varsity basketball since my Freshman year. As a Freshman in high school, I led my Freshman and JV team to region championships, with undefeated seasons. My Sophomore season, I led the varsity team in three-point field goals, with an average of 38.9%. My Junior year, I helped lead my team to their first 13th Region Championship in 49 years! I also received "Most Inspirational Player" award post season. My Senior year, I helped lead my team to a second 13th Regional Championship, which was another record breaking year for my school. I received multiple awards during the tournament (Player of the Game for all games, and MVP of the entire tournament).
I am very athletic, have a very high basketball IQ, very strong defensively, and a deadly 3-point shooter. We play a very up-tempo style of basketball at our high school, leading the state of Kentucky in scoring as a team last season. Academically, I am college and career ready, already passing my ACT. As I look ahead in my future, I plan to go to college, major in the business field, maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher, and play basketball. My goal on the team is to constantly improve my game, and always be a help and a very good teammate to the other players. Personally, I think I am a very coachable player. I take criticism constructively, I am always willing to try new things and see different points of views. I am a hard worker, and I strive to motivate and make my teammates better each and every day. I pay great attention to detail, and I always try to do things to the best of my abilities no matter what I am doing. I also realize that being on a team isn't about me, but I believe that I can be a great influence to everyone around me. I plan to be the hardest worker not only on the court, but in the classroom as well. If I were a coach I believe that I would want a player like me on their team
