Personal Statement
In thinking of reasons that I deserve to pursue college, one thing that comes to mind in everything that I do: COMMITMENT. College is a huge step in my long-term goal to become a successful engineer. In accomplishing this major goal, my short-term academic goal is to obtain a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering by 2025. As a senior in high school, I must pass all my classes with an A. I currently have 28 credits towards graduation, and I am enrolled in College Algebra and World History for my senior year. I am sure that I will pass my classes with no problems! I plan to attend Louisiana State University or Southern University as I complete my studies. Upon graduation, I plan to return to graduate school to obtain my master’s degree in engineering to continue my learning. I believe in the importance of earning a college degree and my support system, encourages me to do so every day. With financial barriers on my family, it is extremely important to me to learn the right way to manage money and produce successful budgets. I will not allow those barriers to stop me from being successful and accomplishing my career goals. I also believe in giving back to my community by helping others in financial crisis, so they will not have the same financial burdens that I faced growing up in a single parent household.
Five years from now, I see myself at a local engineering firm, designing infrastructure projects for our community that will improve the overall well-being of humans as our population continues to grow.
In closing, attending college would mean the world to me. I am trying to create a foundation that will allow me to attend college without financial barriers to keep me from being successful. College would help me to focus on my academic studies and remain COMMITTED!
