Personal Statement
The highlight of my high school career, so far, is winning back to back MVP awards in back to back State Championships my sophomore and Junior year. However, I feel that I grew the most as a player when I was barely getting any playing time on varsity during the beginning of the season my freshman year. So I took a break from varsity to only play with the freshman team to get better. That year, I led the freshman team to a 37-0 record! At the end of the season, Coach asked me to come play Varsity for him again. I played a vital role in us winning the State Championship that year, scoring ten points including two And-1's. The following two years I have also been a two-time Class 4A All-State player, a two-time First Team All-District Player, and a two-time First Team All-Acadiana player.
I am blessed to be part of such an astonishing program, winning three out of three State Championships in my three consecutive years playing. Through this program I have learned to be more unselfish, to not make the play that's best for me, but the play that is best for the team. I have learned to be more coach-able. I have also learned to become a great leader for my team, to provide a good example for them and be there for them on and off the court. What makes me different from other athletes is my humbleness, great leadership skills, and last but not least, my determination to win. I will always be determined to win throughout any circumstance throughout the game. I will never hang my head if my team is down n a game, and I always keep the mindset that no matter how much we are down, the game is winnable. For example, in my sophomore year state championship we were down by 13 in the fourth quarter, but neither me nor my team hung our heads or gave up. We ended up beating them in overtime for my second state title. As a three-time state champion, I know I have what it takes to play on the next level.
