Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Olumide Olowu. I live in Rockville MD. I play for my high school team at Walter Johnson and the Silver Spring Edge bulldogs elite an AAU team. I started playing basketball seriously in the 9th grade, unfortunately, I didn't make it my first year, but I stayed determined and worked hard every day spending countless hours in the gym training, watching different game footage and working with coaches to improve my game. I played Jr varsity as a 10th grader and got to experience what playing for a school was like. During that time I developed not only an interest but a desire to pursue my passion for basketball in college. I'm 17 a 6'3" power forward raising Senior.
My gameplay involves posting up, mid-range shots, driving in, rebounding, setting picks and rolling to the basket. I average 10 points and 15 rebounds per game. I'm working to become a more effective teammate every day. I put in daily work such as running drills lifting weights and playing 'pickup' at parks.
This year for varsity I want to make a statement. This year I want to improve my points and rebounds, get highlights, and become a basketball player colleges are interested in, but I know the highlight don't start on the court they start in the gym.
