Jaylen Johnson '22 Recruiting Profile

     Education has always been an important part of my life growing up since I was a little boy. My Dad is a retired Navy Chief and my Mom is a Doctor of Physical Therapy so it has been discussed several times in my home. I’ve always strived to remain on honor roll as well as perform well on standardized  tests. My education so far has been an unique one in that I attended a French Immersion school from K-8th grade. in which we spoke in French all day.  Over time, I’ve learned to speak 3 languages: English, French, and Italian. 

     Not only was education important but our health & physical activity was too. My brother & I have always been involved in sports. My first sport was soccer, then basketball,  swimming, and then Taekwondo. I was told that before I could walk, I was saying “shoot, shoot” and scoring baskets with my 1st hoop set which is why basketball is my favorite sport.

     But it doesn’t stop there. I can hear my Mom saying, “we’re diversifying your resume” so I have learned how to play the violin, I have been a member of the Debate Team, have participated in oratorical contests, and volunteered through community service with my church, my Mom’s Sorority,  and as a member of Jack & Jill of America. Most recently, I was encouraged by my Parents to join NJROTC to develop more leadership skills. So all of the above makes me, ME! I’m unique.....

     So as I prepare for my future, I would like to attend a College where I can follow my passion of health & medicine. I’m interested in either a Physical Therapy or Physicians Assistant Program. I would also like to find a basketball program that could help me improve upon my basketball skills and become a more well rounded player. I’m a good team player, I pick up on plays quickly, and I am working every year on getting better. Hopefully, I will be the type of scholar athlete you’re looking for.
