Personal Statement

I have played basketball since elementary school, and I absolutely enjoy the sport. I initially became interested because a neurosurgeon suggested I play basketball or baseball because of my impeccable hand-eye coordination. And it didn’t hurt that my father was a pretty good basketball player himself. My YouTube videos can be located at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYTKHWE53GNWgc6dnnpa2zw.

Through this competitive sport, I have learned how to work well with others, different forms of communication, and how to strategize for a win. I believe I grew the most as a student-athlete my sophomore year when our team went undefeated. That experience helped me grow as a person and an athlete because it taught me sacrifice, diligence and determination. I learned the true importance of everything my coaches taught me: leadership, commitment and teamwork. As a result, I have become a solid point guard capable of playing at the college level.

I am seeking a college Engineering program that will be a good fit for me both on a college basketball team and academically. Not only am I equipped to compete on a college team, I am a diligent leader who has integrity, a competitive spirit and a willingness to sacrifice. I know that I will be an impactful member on your athletic team. What separates me from the rest is that I am a young man of distinction who desires to win as a result of my hard work, but I always make time to give back to my community. In the Spring of 2019, I led my AAU team to win the Adidas Circuit Zero Gravity Qualifying Championship and won a local STEM coding contest where I created a kids interactive storybook phone app.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
