Personal Statement
I come from a city that is not really recognized for what has been done. I was born in the birthplace of basketball, Springfield Massachusetts. My name is Curen'cee Smith, I am 14 years old and I currently play on the Varsity team at my High School, Hampden Charter School of Science. I played on the Varsity team as an 8th grader at Hampden Charter as well. In 7th grade, I played on the JV team as a role player. Academics are really important to me and I understand that being a student is important and will hopefully help me reach my goals of playing college basketball. I am also taking SAT Prep classes to get me ready to take the SAT's. I have been able to achieve Straight A's in both quarter's that we just completed in the 19/20 academic year. I am in advanced classes where I am taking Biology Honors and Geometry Honors in 9th grade, with sports in school you have to be a student athlete, student before athlete. With my power in the class , I also bring my knowledge on the court. I can remember plays with ease after going through them. The things that make me a good candidate is that I am willing to put forward the time and effort to play, I will give up everything it takes. I will do anything to make my parents proud. I am a person that likes to play the one or the two because I can handle the offense at times and be a leader but I can also score a lot and make plays from those positions better than I can from any other position. The other things that make me different is my over basketball IQ. All I hope is to get to college and play ball, If i make it to the NBA that would be a blessing and dream come true, but if not, I hope to complete college while majoring in the medical field. I would love to work in Pediatric Medicine, due to my love of the medical field and children.
