Personal Statement
When considering my ultimate goals for my college experience I realize that I strive to attend a college where I can be challenged and can use my unique work ethic to excel both at basketball and academically. In the sixth grade, I noticed that I was different from my peers, and as I am progressing through high school, the difference has become more evident. As they experiment with different activities, I have seen myself become closer with the game of basketball and the training that comes with it. Many coaches have told me that my work ethic is what sets me apart from others. At this year's high school end of the season basketball banquet, I was chosen by my coach and teammates to be one of two varsity captains as a junior for the next season. When introducing me, my coach mentioned that I have been the hardest working player he has ever coached. Through setting this tone of hard work, I strive to be a leader by example both on and off the court. The same separation that I feel from my peers has affected me on the academic level. I am at the top of my class, having achieved highest honors every quarter of high school and being accepted into the National Honor Society as a Sophomore. Also, I have been avid to use my knowledge to help others through tutoring sessions. As I continue to improve myself on the court and in the classroom, I look forward to what the future holds.
