Charles Hayden '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Charles Aaron Hayden IVI am 6'3.5" and weigh 165 lbs with a 6'4" wingspan. I have been playing basketball the majority of my life. I have 3 years of high school varsity experience and am entering my fourth year of varsity. My main position is point guard, however, I am versatile enough that I can also play the wing. I am a left handed pass first point guard with a quick first step and can attack both right and left. I am quick off the dribble and am a slasher to the basket. Also, I will not hesitate to pull up for a mid range jump shot and can hit the three. I play defense where I use my height, athleticism, and speed to manipulate opponents. In high school, I defend guards, forwards, and several centers when needed. My greatest asset is my ability to make quick, fast, and effective decisions with regards to passing or scoring options . I am an all around player and also a student of the game.

I am currently a senior at Oakland Christian carrying a 3.399 accumulative GPA. My current ACT score is a 23. However, I plan to retake the ACT in October and am targeting a score of 27 or higher. Throughout high school, the majority of my courses have been honors or AP, and have achieved honors each year.

My freshman year I was one of the first students ever to make varsity as a freshman. I averaged 3 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal. By the end of the season I was the first person off the bench. As a sophomore, I started every game and was named All Catholic Honorable Mention. I averaged 11.8 points, 3 assists, 5 rebounds, and .5 steals. Last year, my junior year, I transferred to Oakland Christian. After missing the first 8 games of the season, I averaged 7.3 points, 2.9 assists, 5.1 rebounds, .7 blocks, and 1.7 steals.
